Ithuba School

A friend of mine is constructing schools in Africa. In an ongoing project, Architecture students from Europe travel to South African community on the Wild Coast, called Mzamba, to build an elementary school with a capacity of a couple of hundred students, together with local people. The project tries to set the bar on many levels of sustainability, local resource management and education for everybody involved. I went there in 2014 and 2015 to help my friend into more exposure and make some pictures and videos. Project “Ithuba” is a joint venture of mutliple NPOs:

Ithuba NPO – http://www.ithuba.org/ – Founded the Project and the school, supports building and provides managemnt for the school.

Building for Orange Farm e.V. – http://www.orangefarm-ev.de/ – Architect Markus Dobmeier is responsible for the Master Layout Plan, designed and built multiple class rooms together with Stundents from HS Munich.

buildCOLLECTIVE NPO – http://www.buildcollective.net/ – Organizes Design – Build Projects with students from Austria to build classrooms. They also built another amazing project near the school: Bridge over Mzamba river
